NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman following Sunday’s successful launch of the Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope from Florida’s Kennedy Space Center. The telescope, which is about the size of a large bus, will travel nearly 1 million miles from Earth to search for distant planets and help scientists better understand how the universe works.  

The telescope was named after Nancy Grace Roman, NASA’s first chief astronomer and the first woman to hold an executive position at the agency. Known as “the mother of Hubble,” Roman played a key role in making NASA's first major space-based telescope a reality.
